We’re delighted to announce that one of our founding directors, MD Ben Barrass, has been elected a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE). Ben met all the Fellowship requirements, which include:
- Having a position of senior responsibility.
- Demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
- Showing influence over policy and strategy making decisions in a technical or business environment.
- Having a structured approach to CPD – both to date and for the future.
- Committed to promoting the engineering profession to young and potential engineers.
In addition, Ben showed his specialist knowledge in a specific field of engineering, alongside other qualities, including actively developing and applying new technologies in engineering at a senior level.
Ben joins two other IMechE Fellows at Cascade Engineering, Rob Harborne and Gren Williamson, a significant number for a small engineering company. The award also reflects the company’s commitment to supporting young people who are interested in an engineering career. This year, Cascade has welcomed several students, from GCSE level to undergraduates, into the business, with more planned for the rest of 2024.
Engineering Sales Manager, Gren Williamson, is also closely involved with IMechE, currently mentoring a couple of senior engineers from other organisations to achieve Fellowship status.
“As a company, we believe in being actively involved in our professional body,” says Ben. “From supporting young people to guiding new engineers through their professional development, it’s very important to us to promote the value and impact of a profession in engineering. I’m delighted to become a Fellow and I'm looking forward to continuing making a wide contribution to the profession.”
Team member and Cascade Manager Gren Williamson also commented, “to have three Fellows in our organisation is not just a proud moment for the company but also helps give our clients confidence their projects are in safe hands with a team focussed in the areas that matter most”.
